Features
The features and innovations of the Astell & Kern AK ZERO1 include:
- Three different types of drivers: planar, balance armature and dynamic
- Perfectly coordinated driver structure
- Precise crossover network design
- Acoustic chamber made with 3D printing technology
- Precise CNC machined metal housing
- HiFi-compatible, purely silver-coated OFC cable
Microplanar dynamic driver
The Micro Rectangular Planar Dynamic Driver is a specially developed, state-of-the-art driver that makes it possible to transfer the design of a planar driver, which is known to be difficult to reduce for headphones, to in-ear monitors. The robust and light planar membrane minimizes frequency losses and is combined with a vibrating plate made of a high polymer and a thin metal film to generate crystal clear and dynamic high frequencies.
Two symmetrical anchors and dynamic drivers
The driver system of the AK ZERO1 consists of two BA drivers with specially developed coils that deliver transparent voices with extremely low distortion. Together with the single 5,6mm dynamic driver that provides rich, controlled and deep low frequencies, the AK ZERO1 is ready to deliver its groundbreaking hybrid sound.
Crossover design
To realize this new sound through the ideal frequency response, a crossover design was developed based on a thorough understanding of the parameters of each driver. Each driver is then carefully placed in the optimal position and housed in specially developed acoustic chambers made with 3D printing technology. These precision housings eliminate unnecessary movement and resonance from the drivers to ensure stable performance. The precisely manufactured main body reduces internal and external vibrations to ensure the most focused and precise sound possible.
HiFi quality cables coated with pure silver
To further maximize audio performance, the AK ZERO1 is equipped with pure silver-coated OFC cables. These cables are coated with high-purity silver and copper and fitted with aluminum connectors to ensure the transparency of the audio signal. The MMCX plugs provide a first class connection between the ear case and the cable and provide long lasting and stable performance.
NEW 4,4 mm MMCX cable as an accessory
For discerning audiophiles who want to experience the highest possible audio quality with their AK ZERO1 IEMs or other MMCX-compatible headphones, Astell & Kern is launching an optional 4,4mm cable. The PEP11 has larger 4,4 mm connectors made of aluminum and is equipped with the same high-quality, high-purity silver coating and a copper cable.
The typical Astell & Kern design
Astell & Kern's unmistakable, bold, diagonal design language is continued in the AK ZERO1, with a high-quality, polished metal surface that brilliantly reflects the light. The shape of the case and the slim ear cups have been carefully designed and refined not only to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, but also to efficiently and precisely transmit the sound through the ears. The scope of delivery includes five pairs of silicone earbuds in various sizes and a set of foam earbuds as well as a carrying case in which the IEMs can be safely stored during transport to ensure an optimal fit.
